Blue Light Glasses for Kids: Stylish Protection for Screen Time

Getting a child to actually wear blue light glasses depends entirely on two factors: how much the frames weigh and whether they pinch behind the ears.

We handed these TR90 frame glasses to two kids (ages 6 and 9) who average two hours of daily tablet time. Over three weeks, we monitored durability, comfort, and whether the lenses provided a practical, shatter-resistant barrier against screen glare without feeling like a medical device.

The TR90 Frame Durability Test

Kids drop things, sit on things, and shove items carelessly into backpacks. We specifically wanted to test the TR90 material these frames use. During our three-week test, we bent the arms outward to nearly 180 degrees. They flexed easily and snapped right back into shape without stressing the hinges. If your child is rough on their belongings, these offer a significant advantage over rigid plastic frames that snap at the bridge.

Comfort and Fit

The 6-year-old tester wore them for an hour straight without complaint, noting they felt “like nothing.” The lightweight build successfully prevents the glasses from sliding down the nose during movement. However, the 9-year-old tester found them slightly snug around the temples after 45 minutes. While the flexible arms mitigate some of the pinching, parents of older children might need to look for a wider frame size.

Screen Glare and Real-World Use

The lenses feature a noticeable amber tint. When testing them against a harsh white tablet screen in a dim room, they effectively cut down the harsh blue light emissions. We observed a slight reduction in eye rubbing during evening gaming sessions. The lenses do pick up fingerprints quickly, so you will be using the included cleaning cloth frequently.

Accessories and Value

The included car-shaped hard case is a surprisingly effective feature. It gave our younger tester an actual reason to put the glasses away properly rather than leaving them on the couch. At this price point, getting a durable novelty case, a microfiber cleaning cloth, and a blue light testing kit adds excellent value to the package.

Honestly, I only got them because they were cheap. I didn’t expect much, but WOW! They actually look nice and my kids love them!

    5. Jessica Brown

That’s a pleasant surprise! Sometimes the budget options turn out to be the best!

  2. Rachel Adams

Are these glasses heavy? My daughter has a small head and I worry they might slide off her nose.

    1. They’re lightweight and designed for comfort, so they should fit well on smaller heads!

    2. Jessica Brown

That’s a relief! I’m getting them for my daughter too, she’s very sensitive about things on her face.

    3. Tommy Lee

I’d say they’re really light. My kids wore them for hours without complaining.

    4. Rachel Adams

Thanks! I hope she likes them. I’ll let you know how it goes!

  3. David Miller

I’m not convinced that these glasses do much. I mean, how effective can they be at this price?

    1. Jessica Brown

Exactly! If they don’t work, you’re not out much.

    2. Rachel Adams

I was skeptical too, but the reviews have been pretty good overall! Might be worth a try.

    3. It’s understandable to be cautious, David. They do offer UV400 protection, which is a solid feature!

    4. David Miller

Maybe I’ll give them a shot. What do I have to lose at that price?

  4. Oliver King

I bought these for my niece, and she’s been wearing them every time she’s on her tablet. What a relief!

  5. Lisa Green

I’m a bit skeptical about these. Do they really work? I mean, do kids actually wear them? My son thinks they’re ‘lame’. ????

    1. Sarah Thompson

My son was skeptical at first too, but once he saw himself in the mirror, he loved them! Maybe let your son choose a color he likes?

    2. Lisa Green

Yeah, I might try that! Colors do matter for kids. Thanks for the tip!

    3. Mike Johnson

Maybe let him try them on when he’s playing games? That could help!

    4. That’s a fair concern, Lisa. Many kids find them stylish and actually enjoy wearing them!

  6. James Robinson

Are these glasses adjustable? My kid has a big head and is picky about fit.

    1. James Robinson

Yeah, I hope they fit. I might have to check out the return policy just in case.

    2. Sarah Thompson

Good idea! Always better to be safe!

    3. Gregory Smith

That’s a bummer. I guess it depends on how big his head is!

    4. They are designed to fit well, but they don’t have adjustable features, unfortunately.

  7. Nina Scott

I love how cute they look! I just wish they had a pair for adults. ????

    1. That would be great! Maybe in the future they’ll expand their range!

    2. Tommy Lee

      Right? Stylish glasses for everyone!

    3. Lisa Green

I’d totally buy a pair for myself! Who says you can’t be stylish while working!
